INFRARED PERFECTION

B620FLIR P-Series infrared cameras (P620, P640 and P660) provide superior thermal and visual image quality, spot size resolution, temperature measurement accuracy, and a host of advanced features will give you the best engineered, state of the art infrared camera available on the market today.

The P-Series infrared cameras are ideal for the predictive maintenance and non-destructive inspections. As a thermographer at a utility company or at a production or manufacturing plant, flexibility and focus is required, both from you and your camera. With it's high resolution detector and a selection o powerful lenses you obtain the best IR image quality. The tiltable viewfinder lets you operate the camera in poorly accessible areas - within safe distance from your target.

More Inspections, Faster

The integration of an infrared camera, digital camera, GPS (P660) video light and laser pointer allows you to do more inspections within a shorter time frame. All captured information is seamlessly integrated into the FLIR Reporter™ software allowing for powerful temperature analysis and automatic reporting. The flexibility of the FLIR P-Series will allow for efficient use regardless of application and user preferences.

Key Performance Features

FLIR P-Series (including B-Series and SC-Series)

The information below outlines the unique and powerful features that contribute to the FLIR P-Series infrared cameras´ outstanding performance.

To achieve true high quality images three cornerstones need to be in place; a detector with many pixels resulting in detailed high resolution images, a detector with high sensitivity for seeing the smallest temperature differences and a high quality powerful lens. For the FLIR P-Series the combination of a very powerful lens and use of state of the art detector technology ensures the best image available of all performance cameras.

High Definition Images

interchangeable lenses

Powerful and interchangeable infrared lenses

A large diameter lens means more IR radiation reaches the detector, resulting in high quality IR images. The high precision germanium lenses in the P-Series with integral USM advanced focusing system and/or independant manual focusing are designed to take full advantage of the 640x480 pixel FPA detector. The P-Series features a standard 24º lens and optional 7º, 12º and 45º lenses.

640x480

640x480 pixel resolution

Higher resolution improves your inspections providing higher accuracy of measured temperatures spotting even small objects from a distance. This is of critical importance to many thermographers who need to minimize risk of missing faults that can develop to catastrophic failures.

320 x 240

Resolution2

With higher resolution a hotspot appears more clearly, also the temperaturemeasurement is more accurate.

With a higher resolution camera you cover a bigger object with only one image. With lower resolution more images are needed to cover the same area with the same level of details in the image.

<45 mK

High sensitivity
The thermal sensitivity in the FLIR P-Series ranges from <40 mK (P620) to <30 mK (P660) depending on model. The better the sensitivity is the better the camera is to capture the finest image details even at low temperature differences. High detector sensitivity is particularly important for building applications where temperature differences are typically lower.

The image shows how even electrical wiring (1) inside the wall appears clearly in images taken by a FLIR P660. A cold area is spotted above the window (2).

Image Quality

High quality visual camera
All P-Series models include an integrated 3.2 Mpixel visual camera, fixed lens, autofocus and lamp for shooting in dark environments.

Contrast Optimizer (only P660)Contrast Optimizer

The Contrast Optimizer is a unique feature that enhances infrared images of objects having a lot of fine details. It optimizes automatically the brightness and contrast adjustment to make it easier to make thermal analyzes of detailed objects. Contrast Optimizer is an advanced military image processing technology for the first time implemented in a commercial infrared camera.

Panorama support

Take images in a sequence and automatically combine them to one large image using the Reporter Building SW  (Reporter Building SW)  In the Reporter Building SW you choose one image in a series and press “Combine”. A large image is automatically created.

Notice the supporting grid. The transparent gray area, displayed in the camera view, shows the right most part of the previous image to ease the alignment.

The two images stitched together using the FLIR Reporter Building software.

Windowing (only SC620, SC640, SC660)

When connected to the FLIR ResearchIR software the camera can be set to windowing mode. In 60 Hz mode half of the image around the center is used to create a 640x240 image. In 120 Hz mode a fourth of the image around the center is used to create a 640x120 image. The feature is used for studying faster events mainly in research applications.

The inner frame image shows 640x120 in 120 Hz, the middle frame 640x240 in 60 Hz, the whole image is 640x480 in 30 Hz.

High Sensitivity

Measurement range

Electrical applications demand a higher measurement range that e.g. building applications.  The P-Series measures temperatures from -40ºC to +500 ºC, optional up to +2000 ºC.

GPS

Built in GPS

GPS

Embedded GPS tags in the the IR images allows you to zoom in on exact locations and speed up repairs.

FLIR embedded Geographic Positioning System (GPS) automatically documents satellite coordinates. The system enables technicians to view, analyze and directly localize infrared images from many different locations easily and quickly. It will also guide inspection and field repair teams to the correct location.

Infrared images become geo-referenced and can be loaded into the Reporter software, offering links to available map and satellite imagery information systems (like Google® Earth) that indicates the geographic location of the images. P660 only – and upgraded versions of P620 & P640.

Laser locator

Laser Pointer

A conveniently located button activates the Laser Pointer which increases accuracy by guiding you to the anomalies on the object

The FLIR P660, B660, SC660 models have a more advanced Laser Pointer which automatically pinpoints te hot spot on the IR image with the real physical target.

Lasor Locator

Point camera so the laser indicator is on the hot spot in the IR image (blue arrow).
The laser is now pointing on the hot spot on the real object (red arrow).

The Laser Pointer on FLIR 660-Series also has three available settings (which can be independently selected):

  • Auto focus: Continuous auto focus on the laser spot
  • Level: Automatic level adjustment on the laser spot
  • Spot meter: A spot meter is automatically displayed in the IR image providing a temperature value for the laser spot position.
Flexible
