Description

The Fire Guardian ‘hot spot’ fire detection system is designed to provide thermal surveillance in environments where there is the ever present risk of fire.

Fire Guardian utilises state-of-the-art thermal cameras from COX that are sensitive to infrared energy, temperature changes less than 0.5°C can be detected, thus enabling early warning of any potential over heating or fire risk. Provides alarm outputs on exceeding pre-set temperature.

Fire Guardian includes many unique design features that ensure optimum performance under service conditions.

Using a high resolution infrared detector to locate hot spots, the system can also incorporate a high definition visual camera to aid scene interpretation.

At the core of the Fire Guardian is a radiometric thermal camera. Radiometric means the ability to measure temperature by collecting the energy being emitted from a surface. This is accomplished without having contact with the target.

This technology is extremely safe. It is a passive technology meaning, nothing is transmitted and nothing touches the target.

The standard measuring range is -20°C to +120°C and up to 0 to 650°C optionally. Market leading accuracy at ± 2% or ± 2°C of reading.

Why Use Thermal Imaging?

Thermal Technology has been used for many years within industry as a predictive maintenance and preventative tool. With the ability to measure temperature, areas large and small are able to be monitored on a regular basis.

When the working temperature of an area or component is known, it is possible using this information to predict if the component is failing as a result of a rise temperature.

With Prediction comes prevention, allowing for ‘suspect’ components to be inspected and replaced during a general maintenance programme way ahead of any failure saves on unplanned down time.

Thermal Performance

The Fire Guardian is a real-time thermal imaging camera system and will scan at 50Hz.

This means that  the images can be recorded while the camera is moving without image distortion or smear.

The Video format provided is CCIR PAL and optionally NTSC.

Software and Analysis

The Fire Guardian is set up from the control Panel that is provided with the system.  The alarms and Isotherms are also controlled from the control panel. Assistance and training will be given during commissioning and hand over.

When operational should the system detect a hot spot, and further investigation is needed you can interrogate the software for more information on the detected potential hazard. Which can be followed up with a closer inspection.

The Fire Guardian is mounted on a pan & tilt unit in order to provide maximum coverage of the scene.

The system can be programmed to carry out monitoring tours or patterns without an operator interacting with the system. Any hot spots are automatically detected and alarmed if they exceed temperature thresholds.

Alarms can be hard wired to a klaxon and or a flashing beacon to give maximum awareness. The alarms can be hard wired in to the water cannons as well, ensuring that anything with potential to combust can be cooled down immediately.

  • The fire Guardian is supplied as standard with a 44° field of view
  • Optional 27°, 62°, 90° and 15° field of view lenses are also available.
  • Manual focus on Static Systems.
  • Motor focus for Pan & Tilt Systems. The motor focus is controlled via the joystick controller.
  • The joystick controller  for the pan & tilt system will perform programme tours or pre-set positions.
